(OUTDATED) Hooking Texts from Japanese Visual Novels Using ITH

Taking a break from horny Senge.
(OUTDATED, use Textractor for a better experience)

Some asked me on how the heck do I play Japanese visual novels. Famous question is "Do you really read the Japanese texts?"

Well, in order to play Japanese visual novels, all you need to have is a translation software like ATLAS Dictionary and a text hooker like Interactive Text Hooker (ITH) or AGTH (Anime Games Text Hooker). You can find these on net, search engines are your best friend after all.

Some games need to have a some sort of parameter in order to hook text from a game. Be sure to check games compatibility with AGTH. How to hook game texts with parameters? Read my tutorial at here.

But that's for AGTH. On the other side, ITH is user friendly. All you have to do is:

1. Open the game.

2. Open text hooker software (in my case, ITH)
3. Click Process, and search the running game (in my case, Taisho Mebiusline)
4. Click "Attach" and "Add Profile" to make our self easy. By doing this you don't have to do this step every time you run the game.

5. Open the translation software (in my case, ATLAS)
6. Right-click the green little icon.
7. Tick "Automatic Clipboard Translation".

8. Run the game.
9. Look at the ITH box, some kind of code is showing up. This is called "strings", and it contains the hooked text.
10. Choose the correct string that match the game.

11. ???
12. PROFIT!

Okay, thanks for reading my crappy tutorial!!! Have a great day!!

  1. Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm such a noob at this and this tutorial was the most simple and easiest to understand out of all the other tutorials i've searched for. Thanks a lot!
